Ca y est l'aventure commence avec quelques souçis mais dans quelques heures nos malchanceux premiers pilotes pourront commencer à consommer ce pourquoi ils ont tant rêvés.

Le bateau est enfin arrivé à bon port: au quai ce Lundi 05 Décembre à 13:00
Avec plus de 3 semaines de retard... More than 3 weeks behind shedule...
Mercredi 07 Décembre:
Déchargement du conteneur seulement mardi après-midi, trop tard pour passer la douane . Notre transporteur nous informe qu'il n'aura pas de camion avant Vendredi (=> livraison Samedi après midi...). J'appelle André Rossouw qui nous trouve un camion pour le lendemain (Mercredi) ouf! on sauve 2 jours de vol. Mercredi matin la Douane nous demande un contrôle physique de toute la cargaison...Le temps de nous rendre au port il nous est signifié que ce contrôle ne pourra pas être fait avant le lendemain matin
Palabres ... finalement la douane accepte que le contrôle se fasse entre 11h & midi. Débalage de tout le matos (enfin presque)...Obtention du visa de douane. Remballage. 14h chargement du conteneur sur le camion et départ pour Burgsdorf à 15h par la C14.
18h30 escale à Solitaire où nous passons la nuit
Jeudi 08 Décembre:
arrivée à Burgsdorf 12:30 sous un ciel de rêve (triangle 400km Helmeringhausen Sesriem inscrit dans le ciel), on a raté une journée canon
Le camion devrait arriver d'une minute à l'autre avec le conteneur...
17:00 Toujours pas de camion...
nous venons d'aprendre qu'il a eu une panne 60km avant Windhoek, il n'arrivera pas avant 11h ce soir...
Vendredi 09 Décembre:
Le conteneur est enfin arrivé, à 1h30 du matin; déchargé à 7h ... fin de la galère transport, ouf!... L'aventure peut commencer

Bonjour à toutes et à tous,
Premier objectif atteint, le container est chargé et prêt pour la migration. Ce fut un reel plaisir que de voir autant de motivation et de volonté à contribuer au chargement . Avec une équipe comme celà nous sommes confiant pour l'avenir. Je remerçie tous les pilotes et volontaires qui auront participé à cette première étape.

First task completed with success, the container is loaded and ready to start the long migration. It was a real pleasure to see such a motivation and teaming last Sunday. A winning team that's make us confident.
I would like to congratulate all the team player's for this first success.

Ladies and Gentlemen's,
Here we are, a couple of months before starting a new and fantastic adventure. Looking at the number of mails and exchanges I saw during the last day's I start thinking that it becomes really live: the project is on track and our coordinator is well tuned giving you the last infos as soon as something new is available.
Actually 19 pilots are registred, 3 Aerotow pilots and 5 ladies acompagny their partner, all spread over a period going from December 4th to January 14th. Two additional pilots are probably joining with their companions, we just have to settle final planning with them.
From a material point of view it looks like everything is taking place, the Glider's will start to converge from South to NE and the pilots are now looking the best event or occasion to meet and organize the travel knowing that we will certainly have to pack somewhere mid of October (the exact dates will be known soon). Pilots from South are targetting the event of the Coupe d'ICARE, exactly the week-end of Sept 24-25 in St Hilaire in the Alps to bring together their glider's. They will be carried by the North pilots...
I will also start now some buzz around our trip to gather some attention: magazine, our Federation (CND) and maybe some people or organisations that could help from a financial point of view: do not hezitate to share your good idea it could help a lot.
Communication is key from now on so please don't hezitate to contact this blog or people directly and if it concerns the community please contact the coordination. As you know we are going to spend some very exiting moments and I would like to ping a moment on security aspects at it is indeed the most important. We are going to aerotow in conditions that are not usual and if you might have some doubts about your capabilities in this domain please continue your training. Security is not only in the air and given our last experience I really ask you to restrain your enthusiasm when driving on the road (keep it intact for your flights)...
That's said, we can start Countdown, 3 months to go, be patient .....
